Getting the name right

The name is the one word that has to be right. Here's what you can do:

  1. Use the name they're called by. The song sings a first name or one nickname, never a surname.

  2. Add up to three nicknames. The lyrics may use one of them, so Alexandra can also be sung as Alex.

  3. Unusual name or spelling? Write how it sounds, like “shuh-VON” for Siobhan. The singer follows that spelling, and the lyrics you read keep the real name.

  4. Where your browser can read text aloud, a play button lets you hear that spelling before you go on.

  5. If it still sounds wrong in the full song, press Name sounded wrong?, spell it the way it sounds, and we sing it again for free, once per song.

Where does the name go in the song?

In every chorus, usually at the start or end of a line where the beat lands, and at most once in a verse. You read the lyrics before anything is sung and can change any line.

Can AI sing any name?

Any name you type, in any of the six languages we sing in. If people often get the name wrong, add how it sounds when you type it. If it still comes out wrong in the full song, spell it the way it sounds and we sing it again for free, once per song.

Can the song include more than one name?

The song is about one person, and their name carries the chorus. Mention brothers, sisters, friends or pets in your answers and the lyrics can name them too.

Can AI sing happy birthday with their name?

Pick a birthday as the occasion and you get a birthday song written for them, with their name in the chorus. It's an original song, not the traditional “Happy Birthday” tune with the name dropped in.

How long does it take?
